Voluntary work = wasting time?

Archivado en Personal • Fecha: 05-12-2005 14:48:37

To do voluntary work is a waste of time, that is what some people
think and say about it. The world needs of this selfless work and we
have, fortunately, a lot of non-governmental organizations (NGO), of
different type and we can help them or we can look for one suitable
for us and help a bit, putting we sand's grain.

I have experience doing voluntary work. People think that you have
to do great thinks if you are involved in a NGO's project.
Absolutely not. There are a lot of things to do, everyone is
welcome, it doesn't matter if you are a skilled person or not. Once
I helped collecting food to send to Saharauis's camps, and also
worked with a Intermon Oxfam sensitization campaign, there are a lot
of things to do with whatever NGO, one chooses to work with.

I found the experience very rewarding. You know a lot of people with
different viewpoint. I did a lot of friends. Perhaps this could be
one good reason for doing voluntary work.

I would suggest people, if they have some free time or they are
merely looking for a organisation to do voluntary work: Firstly to
look for an organization whose ethos perhaps appeals to one
personally, this is important as one could feel one is contributing.
Thus leading to self satisfaction, with doing good at same time. Enjoy!!
